  • Egypt has a vast collection of collectible of gold, silver and circulation coins that goes back to the early 20th century.

Egyptian Kingdom Coins

The Royal collection of silver and gold coins started in the early 20th century. The collection starts with Al-Sultan Hussein Kamel. Followed by Sultan Fuad (later became King). The last collection is King Farouk's coins.

Republican Coins

The 1952 revolution dethroned the last Egyptian king. The newly born Egyptian Republic issued its own silver and copper coins for circulation. The mint also issued many gold coins.

Commemorative Coins

The mid 1970s witnessed the start of the Egyptian commemorative silver and gold coins. The Egyptian mint continues to issue the commemorative coins until this day.

Commemorative Sets

The official state mint, started minting commemorative coin sets in 1993. The early sets were made of a one Egyptian pound coin and a five Egyptian pound coin. However, recent sets have additional coin denominations added to them (i.e. 100 and 50).
