
One Hundred Pounds Notes
Egypt's first one hundred pound note was introduced in 1899 by the National Bank of Egypt (NBE). The series continued for more than five decades. However, in 1952 the newly formed regime decided to discontinue the one hundred pounds series as it was used by Egyptians and Foreigners to move their money out of Egypt .The Central bank of Egypt re-introduced the series 25 years later in 1978.

Fifty Pounds Notes
After its decree in 1898, the NBE did not immediately issue a fifty pounds note . Egypt's first fifty pound note was issued in 1904. The bank continued to issue fifty pounds notes until 1952. The denomination was discontinued thereafter. The CBE reintroduced the denomination in 1993.
