  • The National Bank of Egypt was responsible for issuing Bank-notes since 1899. However, the Egyptian Central bank took-over in 1960. 
    The Central Bank was mandated to issue Egyptian Bank-notes in 1960. The First Central Bank-Note was issued in 1961

Egyptian Bank-Notes

The National Bank of Egypt was granted Decree to issue notes in 1898. The first note was issued on the 1st of January in 1899. The Bank has continued to issue bank notes in many denominations up until 1960.
